Kevin Flanagan

I'm Kevin Flanagan, the founder and instructor of the Brehon Academy. My passion lies in reviving the awareness and appreciation for the history, mythology, culture, and Brehon laws of early Ireland. I firmly believe that understanding our past can guide us to a better future. In 2013, I founded the Brehon Academy as a digital hedge school for Irish heritage and culture, with a special focus on the Brehon laws of early Ireland. Since then, we've revamped our website, created 4 online courses, produced over 240 YouTube videos with 16.3k subscribers and 950k total views, and amassed a Facebook following of 18k+. I've also had the honour of speaking at conferences, academic symposiums, and folk festivals across the world about early Irish Brehon Law. My academic journey began at Dublin City University, where I obtained a Bachelor's degree in Law & Society and was awarded for Top Academic Performance in my penultimate year. I then went on to earn a Master's degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from CEVRO University Prague after winning a scholarship. Professionally, I currently serve as the Global Director of Training and Engagement for an international not-for-profit organization, focused on the education, development, and empowerment of young student leaders from around the world. I've developed numerous trainings, courses, online learning materials, and interactive transformative retreats. At the Brehon Academy, I create online courses, videos, blog articles, and learning materials to promote a revived appreciation for and awareness of the culture, mythology, and the Brehon laws of early Ireland. Join me on this incredible journey to rediscover the laws, myths, and culture of early Ireland. Together, we'll delve into the lesser-known aspects of Irish heritage and unlock the wisdom of our ancestors. I look forward to being your guide and mentor as we explore the rich tapestry of Ireland's past.
