Who Were the Tuatha Dé Danann?
In this lesson, we will learn about the Tuatha Dé Danann, a group of beings in Irish mythology known for their godlike abilities and mastery of magic. They settled in Ireland after arriving mysteriously and brought four magical artefacts with them, including the Stone of Destiny.
The Tuatha Dé Danann introduced advanced social order, spirituality, and high culture to Ireland but were eventually conquered by the Milesians, who were also skilled in druids and magic. The Tuatha Dé Danann retreated to the otherworldly domain.
The belief in fairies had a significant influence on Irish beliefs and actions, with changelings being a particularly chilling and extreme belief.
